I'm a Vibesman

Posted on March 17th, 2006 at 10:21 AM

If you didn't already know... I'm a vibesman.

I'm all about the vibe... the feeling... the mood. Blues jams, college apartments, nice restaurants, rock music... the vibe is so crucial! It can make or break a situation/event/place...

You know that feeling... when you're playing a sweet little slowjam in G minor with your broseph on bass and you on the 6 string... when it falls right in the pocket and you get the feeling that maybe you should be smoking pot right now even though you don't... but you're just so chill you almost wish you did.

Or what makes a shitty little apartment complex better than something $2500 more, because the more expensive one is just too nice for college students and the area is just too quite. You need something a little shittier that's a little more fun. Who cares if the pool was filled with dirt (or did it just accumulate naturally over time? or is maybe the water just that dirty?) and turned into a garden at the cheaper place... when it comes down to it you know that you'll be happier in the crap place. Why? It's all about the vibe.

I might sound like a hippie but ... that's def. not the case (i don't even like greenpeace or other environmental activist groups... or animal activist groups for that matter... but that's a different story). I just appreciate the finer subtleties of life and recognize their extraordinarily important role in the grand scheme of things.

You gotta take time to stop and smell the roses, and while you're there enjoy the vibe.

Bicycle Love

Posted on March 12th, 2006 at 6:08 PM

Spring break is underway and I'm loving the break from school. I'll be loving it even more when I'm OUT of rowlett and visiting the lovely ms. nicolle perez at tulane U. Is it ironic that during my spring break, i'm visiting another university campus AND bringing in tow quite a bit of homework? Who knows... but it will be great.

I've been driving my jeep a lot lately... man i really missed that. I'll have it next year in austin too... sweeeet. Anybody who's been without their car for a while can relate.

Driving is a mix between being in love and riding a bicycle.

Like a bicycle because... you never forget duh.

And like love... after not seeing each other for a while... there's always that weird period. Nothing's changed... the handling, the response, the power.. it's all still there, but you're timid. You're not sure if you should just jump back in and drive all over town as if you were driving just yesterday... even though you want to. But then after that... it's just perfect. Just you and the car... and not a care in the world. All the time that you were separated disappears as you and the car are now back to being just like you were before you left.

Damn... i love my jeep.

And if you think that's weird then obviously you aren't getting enough out of your diving experience and maybe you should consider the way you approach transportation and/or life.

Nerdgasm

So I just finished a lab in my digital logic design class. I had to design a circuit that took input from 4 switches (on/off ... binary style) and displayed the corresponding decimal digit in an LCD window. After designing the circuit at a gate level, then writing it in VHDL, I was able to use a program to translate it and upload it to a project board. I then proceeded to test it out... and when i flipped the switches... I saw the correct numbers come up on the LCD.

and it was tite as SHIT.

I guess I'm in the right major if I thought that was cool.. haha. The weekend is almost here! Thank freakn goodness.

Homeless First Post

Well... It looks like I've made another livejournal. Why not keep the old one? It's old and I haven't updated it in years... so I figured... why not get a new one? Besides... 'vigorousb' sounds pretty lame to me now... so it's gone. The question now is... will I really keep up with this one? Or will it suffer the fate of all other blog-esque things/URLs/anything that I've tried to keep up to date? Haha.. only time will tell.

I'll try to keep this more of a "interesting anecdotes(edit) and happens in my life" instead of a "omgZ todAy i ate at J2 at they chicken omMMGGGG it was goooodDD and this DG chick wow SheS so HotTTttt"... but I can't make any promises. And the chicken at J2 ISNT too bad... I guess....hmm. I have the problem though of thinking of cool things to write about during the day an then by the time I get home and at a computer for a while... I've forgotten them all. My memory is pretty freaking bad... most people know this by now though if you've known me for very long... haha :P

So what's on my mind right now? The fact that in November... me and my boys thought we had a sweet apartment locked in... 2 stories, 4 bedroom/2 bath... right in the middle of west campus. But about a week or so ago... we found out we got ASS F***ED by the realtor/the apartment place and in actuality we DIDN'T have it locked down.

It wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't MONTHS that went by without being notified about what was up. So me and the crew are on the prowl again... trying to find a place to live. We've seen some pretty cool places... but $$ is a big issue. Do we live right in the middle of west campus and pay out our ass for an okay-quality place or pay maybe half the price and have way more amenities and pre-furnished rooms... but a 30 minute bus ride away? Hmm. Do we do a 4 bedroom, 2 bath or two 2/2s? Do we let Hpoe live in my closet for $20 a month?

Just a lot of things to think about.

BUT whatever place we end up getting it'll be badass no matter what. I just want to get this whole thing RESOLVED so I don't feel so homeless.

Seeing as how this is getting ass-long, I think I'll call it tonight. Hopefully more entries will follow. We'll see!
